On Thursday, 30/4/1436 AH – 19/2/2015 AD, a delegation from the Canadian Embassy in Riyadh has visited the Society and was welcomed by Dr. Saleh Al Khathlan, the Vice Chairman of the Society, and Mr. Ahmed Al Mahmoud, the Secretary of the Chairman. The delegation includes Thomas Macdonald, the Ambassador of Canada, Ms.Aliya Mawani, a Counselor in the Canadian Embassy, the Counselor Nancy Guy, and Mr. Mahmoud Abdel-Sayed, the Information and Liaison Officer. At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Vice Chairman of the Society has given them a brief explanation regarding the Society’s activities and its contribution in spreading the human rights culture and its mechanism as well as the types of issues received by the Society and how the Society helps the Complainants.

In addition, they have talked about issues related to the Canadian people who are staying in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Society’s role in solving the security prisoners’ issues and maintaining their rights. The ambassador has also praised the human rights’ remarkable progress in the Kingdom and stressed on the importance of exchanging views concerning matters relating to human rights continuously as it will allow a better understanding to the concept of human rights which may vary from one culture to another.
