The Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights, Mr. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Fakhri, has participated in the Sixth Scientific Conference of the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers in Universities of the Middle East and North Africa, under the title: “Water Security and Environmental Law in the Middle East and North Africa.”

This conference sheds light on the importance of water security and sustainable development in the Middle East and North Africa. Besides, it has addressed the best practices regarding the role of environmental law in accelerating progress in water security in the region, in addition to the latest developments in adopting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards and the multi-stakeholder approach. The conference also highlighted the existing legislation, institutions, and key legal innovations related to water security across the region.

Finally, the conference was attended by representatives from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as a number of experts and professionals interested in this field.
