The Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights’ Speech on International Women’s Day
Al-Fakhri: The legislative and regulatory reforms in the Kingdom have contributed to enhancing women’s status and ensuring their rights
On March 8th , the international community celebrates International Women’s Day every year, following the decision of the United Nations General Assembly in 1977 to designate it as an official occasion. This year’s theme is “Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls.”
On this occasion, the Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights, Mr. Khaled bin Abdulrahman Al-Fakhri, has expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts made by the state to enhance women’s status and ensure their full enjoyment of rights. These efforts have been supported by legislative and regulatory reforms that have strengthened women’s economic and social participation while protecting them from all forms of discrimination and violence.
In addition, the Chairman of the Society has affirmed that women are essential partners in the journey of sustainable development. For more illustration, empowering women in the society enhances social and economic stability and drives progress toward achieving Vision 2030, which emphasizes increasing women’s participation in the labor market and expanding their roles in leadership and developmental fields, contributing to social justice.
Furthermore, he has stressed the importance of continuing efforts to raise societal awareness about women’s rights, strengthen mechanisms for their protection, and ensure they have equal opportunities in all fields. This will help achieve justice, equality, and enhance their role in the development process.
Finally, the Chairman has concluded his statement by emphasizing the need to intensify awareness programs about women’s rights as guaranteed by Islamic law and the existing regulations in the Kingdom. He has also highlighted the importance of addressing any challenges women may face, ensuring the principles of justice, equality, and human dignity, and increasing public awareness to respect and uphold these rights.
