On Monday 20/2/1435 AH – 23/12/2013 AD, the Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR), Dr . Mufleh bin Rabiean al-Qahtani , has received the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia to the Kingdom, Mr. Mohamed Hassan. He has received him with a delegation that included the Ethiopian Ambassador to Qatar , His Excellency the Ambassador and the Head of the Department of Near Eastern Affairs , and HE the director of the expatriates management in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General –designate, adviser Khalid bin Abdul Rahman al-Fakhiri, and the secretary of the Chairman of the Society , Mr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mahmoud. The visit aimed to discuss the ways of cooperation and to exchange the views on the result of correcting the conditions of the migrant workers , and in particular the Ethiopian employment. Besides, the ambassador has praised the role of the Society in following-up the procedures of the campaign through its on-site visits to see the situation , and through visiting the shelters of the employment that did not rectify their situations in order to make sure that they are enjoying their rights .He has called this the high efforts for the human rights services.

The Chairman of the Society has shed light on the need for the rehabilitation to the Ethiopian labor as some workers lose their rights because they are not trained for the works that they are coming for. The Ambassador replied saying that the Ethiopian government has set up vocational training centers for the workers who are coming to the Kingdom. He also confirmed that the embassy does not intercept the procedures of Saudi Arabia for correcting their situation as it has provided the identification papers for the deportees. But he wishes that there will be no excesses against his citizens especially in the light of inflating the media to what is happening from some workers , which helps to discredit the Ethiopian labor. He also  stresses that the regular Ethiopian  employment are committed and they deny what might happen from some individuals. In addition, he has asserted on  the importance of reporting the embassy when they stop their citizens and allow to visit them. He has also presented some cases and asked the Society to visit them and to stand on their own problems , especially their shelters. The Chairman of the Society has promised to follow up these cases , and help in providing information regarding the  number of the detainees from the Ethiopian labor in some regions of the Kingdom which will help in resolving their situation. The Society has also asserted on the Kingdom ‘s sovereign right to regulate the conditions of the residents in order to stay regularly ,with the emphasis on the importance of respecting the rights of everyone .
