The Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights, Dr. Mufleh Rabiean Al-Qahtani has participated in the Sixth National Experts meeting for the Prevention of Violence against the Elderly, under the slogan of “IHSAN” with a working paper that talks about the protection of the elderly in the local and international regulations, especially the system of protection from abuse and to what extent it includes the elderly. It has also discussed the elderly rights in the Islamic law, as well as taking care of the elderly and its role in the prevention of violence especially the physical and psychological care.  At the end of the meeting there were several recommendations as the necessary to find international convention to protect the rights of the elderly, the inclusion of the protection of the elderly, by an explicit text, in the system of protection from abuse in the Kingdom or issuing system particularly for the elderly, working on covering the different parts of the Kingdom by nursing homes and including the elderly in the community as well as providing opportunities to engage them in various activities and social events. Besides, improve the health and social care services provided for the elderly and opening clubs in the neighborhoods for the elderly by nominal fees to provide their needs, and also supporting families that care the elderly and strengthen their role in this regard.

Additionally, the seminar was attended by other entities, including King Salman Social Center, Saudi Assembly to support the elderly, “Waqar”, the Humanitarian City of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, , and several related parties.
