The National Society for Human Rights organizes a Seminar on Women’s Empowerment and its Impact on Sustainable Development
The National Society for Human Rights has held a seminar today at its headquarters in Riyadh, entitled “Women’s Empowerment and Its Impact on Sustainable Development.” The event has brought together representatives from various government sectors and civil society organizations.
The seminar was opened by the Society’s Chairman’s word, Mr. Khaled bin Abdulrahman Al-Fakhri, who has highlighted the crucial role of women in achieving sustainable development. For more illustration, Al- Fakhri has emphasized the impact of Saudi Vision 2030 on women’s empowerment, recognizing them as key contributors to building a more sustainable and prosperous future. He has also noted that this impact has been evident across economic, social, and environmental fields, making women essential partners in achieving developmental goals. Besides, Al-Fakhri has addressed the role of societal awareness in shaping women’s rights.
First, the seminar, moderated by Dr. Lujain bint Ahmed Al-Huqail, Assistant Professor in the Department of Private Law at the College of Law and Political Science at King Saud University, has covered two main topics and a group of specialists have participated in it. For more illustration, Sheikh Waleed Al-Hassan, Advisor to His Excellency the Attorney General, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for Criminal Reconciliation Units, and Supervisor of the Family and Juvenile Prosecution at the Public Prosecution have reviewed the available legal procedures for women and the role of the Public Prosecution in this regard. Meanwhile, Dr. Muznah Al-Ameir, CEO of Al-Nahda Association, has highlighted the guarantees provided to women in the Kingdom and the progress made in advancing their rights.
Moreover, the second session has focused on the significance of women’s empowerment and the policies supporting it. To illustrate, Dr. Noura Al-Yousef, a member of the National Society for Human Rights, has highlighted the various enablers that have strengthened women’s roles in society. Former Shura Council member Noura Al-Shaban has also emphasized that current regulations have played a crucial role in reinforcing women’s rights in practice.
To conclude, this seminar is part of the Society’s ongoing efforts to raise legal awareness within the community, highlight positive developments, and address challenges while proposing solutions for improvement.
