The National Society for Human Rights has participated in the Regional Conference dedicated to the protection of refugee children and adolescents entitled – “Investing in The Future: Protecting Refugee Children in the Middle East and North Africa”. The conference has taken place in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, on the 15th and 16th of October 2014, corresponding to 21\22-12-1435 AH. Moreover, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has called for it and it has taken place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The Chairman of the Society has participated in this conference in response to the invitation sent to him and it was attended by many ministers, officials and representatives of international and regional organizations concerned with human rights and the situation of refugees. Besides, the conference has discussed the following:

–         Putting the Best Interest of the Child First

–         Prevention and Response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence

–         Children Affected by Armed Conflict

–         Birth Registration and Legal Documentation

–         Protecting Children through Education

–         Adolescents and Youth as Agents of Change

–         Families and Communities at the Forefront of Child Protection
