Based on the recommendation issued by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954, the international community celebrates world Child’s Day on November 20 of each year, which stated that all countries should establish world Child’s Day celebration so as to promote the social role of the child, listen to him and work to preserve his rights.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights, Mr.Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Fakhri, has said that promoting and protecting the rights of the child contributes to provide a safe and stable environment for children, enhance their mental and physical health, reduce stress and anxiety resulting from neglect or abuse.It also contributes to social cohesion by reducing violence and crime resulting from neglect, explaining the importance of spreading awareness of children’s rights in a way that simulates their minds and ages and in a way that contributes to know these rights, and focusing on monitoring any abuses against the child. It also focuses on working to speed up how we address them, and highlight the practices that all those who deal with children must be careful not to fall into them because they are considered a kind of harm or neglect to the right of the child. In addition, he sheds light on the importance of the family’s role in controlling cyber risks that may affect their mental health, stressing on the importance of protecting and preserving the rights of the child, and to cooperate and making efforts at all levels to work in order to achieve the principles stipulated by the regulations in force in the Kingdom and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which guarantee the best interests of the child in all circumstances.

Furthermore, Al-Fakhari has stressed that the National Society for Human Rights has monitored many of the rights included in the regulations and policies in the Kingdom that aimed at protecting and promoting the rights of the child, which confirms the attention paid by the state to these rights and protecting them from various types of abuse, neglect, discrimination and exploitation, to ensure the provision of a safe and sound environment for the child that enables him to develop his skills, abilities and protect him psychologically and physically. The rights includes the issuance of a special system for children’s rights and the launch of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Initiative for the Protection of Children in the Cyber World 2020, and the launch of the National Strategy for the Family, which includes (39) initiatives that combine to promote and protect children’s rights, which confirms the dedication of efforts at the national level to contribute to promoting children’s rights and to protect them. He has also points out that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reflects the great attention that the Kingdom pays to human rights, through efforts to promote and consolidate these rights and work to develop measures to protect them.

The Chairman of the Society has also appreciated the Kingdom’s efforts and commitment to protect the rights of the child and its permanent cooperation with the mechanisms of the United Nations, international organizations and the international community in order to seek to intensify efforts to ensure the protection of children’s rights in the world, including projects implemented by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works in a number of countries around the world.

Finally, The Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights has concluded his speech by saying that there is no doubt that the regulations and policies in force in the Kingdom support and promote children’s rights, which has contributed to the preservation and stability of these rights. He adds saying that it requires the relevant executive authorities and civil society institutions to intensify awareness programs in order to clarify the wrong practices towards the child and ways to address them so as to contribute in upbringing him in a safe and healthy environment.
