The International Human Rights Day, which is on the tenth of December, passes this year and the world is still living under the influence of the Corona pandemic, in addition to the continued exposure of humans to disease and death. One of the direct negative effects of this pandemic are those related to the economic aspects of world’s human societies around the world, which means the suffering of many of the people around the world especially those who are in need as many of them fall into extreme poverty. In addition, poverty, inequality, failure to facilitate the access of vaccines to poor countries, discrimination between people, and the various kinds and classifications of human rights violations, are among the biggest global challenges facing our current era, and it is necessary to address them effectively, and to put in strategic measures that contribute to support and promote human rights , away from the political motives and narrow economic interests of some countries.

Besides, the flagrant violations of human rights in Yemen by the Houthi militias with the support of the Iranian regime, their recruitment of children, and targeting the infrastructure and civilian objects, require a firm international position that deters these terrorist militias from their violations, as we note an international reluctance in this area, and even a blind eye to these dangerous violations.

The right of people to access digital services is still important in light of work, distance education and digital services, especially in light of the recent reliance on them, which requires concerted efforts by the relevant authorities to ensure that these rights are fulfilled for all. Environmental pollution, including climate change and the destruction of nature, also has also affected human rights for today’s and tomorrow’s generations.

Furthermore, the Kingdom’s government, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has been concerned with raising the quality of life through a number of initiatives, including the Saudi Arabia and the Green Middle East initiatives, which aim to improve the quality of life and protect future generations, by increasing reliance on Clean energy, neutralize the effects of oil, and protect the environment. Through the Green Middle East Initiative, the Kingdom will lead regional efforts to achieve global targets to combat climate change.

The Kingdom has also supported the humanitarian needs sector this year with a number of initiatives, including the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ donation of 20 million riyals for charitable and non-profit works through the Ihsan platform and the directive of His Highness the Crown Prince to allocate an amount of 100 million riyals, to support 29 charitable organizations in the amount of ( 87) million riyals and to pay the debts of more than (150) insolvent prisoners, to be released and returned to their families.

The Kingdom has also issued many legislations that will achieve a qualitative leap in the legislative structure in the Kingdom in various fields, which will contribute to the protection of human rights, enhance the principles of justice and help to feel legal security in the areas that will be regulated.

For more illustration, the celebration of the International Human Rights Day provides an opportunity for everyone to assess what has been achieved in the various fields of human rights, and urges a move towards a brighter future, through the cooperation and participation of all sectors and entities to fulfill these rights, especially facilitating access to the rights most closely related to people’s lives and their future, and from the right to education, the right to treatment, the right to housing, the right to live a decent life, the right to development, and the right to have a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment.  All those are considered basic rights to build an economy based on human rights, which requires everyone at the national as well as international level cooperate to promote the principles of human rights and work to protect them.
