On Sunday, 13/3/1436 AH – 4/1/2015 AD, a delegation from the American Bar Association has visited the Society and was welcomed by Dr. Mufleh bin Rabiean Al Qahtani, the Chairman of the Society, Mr. Khalid Al Fakhri, the Secretary General of the Society, and Mr. Ahmed Al Mahmoud, the Secretary of the Chairman as well as the members of the Society, Dr. Ibrahim Al Suleiman and Ms. Thoryia Sheikh. The delegation includes Mr. William Coleman, Mr. Thomas Michael, member of the Association and Mr. Paul Joseph, Coordinator and member of the Association accompanied by Mr. Majid Al Garoub, the President of the Saudi Bar Association. At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Chairman of the Society has given them a brief explanation regarding the Society’s activities and its contribution in spreading the human rights culture as well as the human rights’ remarkable progress in the Kingdom and the efforts exerted for its enhancement. In addition, they have talked about the entrance of women into the Shura Council and allowing her to participate in the municipal elections. They have also shed light on the existence of the National Society for Human Rights’ offices in the prisons. Besides, they have asked the visiting delegation about the issue of the Saudi detainee Homaidan Al -Turki and about the Guantanamo Bay. The head of the American Bar Association has illustrated that they care about such issues and he asked about some information concerning Homaidan Al -Turki’s issue.  He has also asserted on their concern on the human rights’ issues in general and on achieving justice in particular.  Moreover, they have discussed the ability of organizing a mutual cooperation between the American Bar Association and the National Society for Human Rights in  holding workshops and training courses and exchanging views concerning matters relating to human rights continuously as it will allow a better understanding to the concept of human rights which may vary from one culture to another.
