Al-Fakhri: The Public policies in Saudi Arabia and the clear legislative that include human rights pillars have contributed in supporting and promoting women’s rights.

On the eighth of March every year, the international community celebrates International Women’s Day. The celebration comes in accordance with the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1977 as an official occasion holding  the title “Investing in Women: Accelerating Progress”.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights, Mr. Khalid bin Abdul Rahman Al-Fakhri, has stated that this day is an important occasion that highlights the accelerated reforms that aimed at enhancing women’s participation in economic, social and other development fields. This happens through several initiatives and programs that contributed to empowering Women leaders in decision-making positions. The Society, through its follow-up, has monitored the increase in the share of women in the labor market and in assuming leadership positions, where it was noted that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is very interested in supporting and empowering women In line with public policies and the clear legislative and human rights pillars they include to support and promote women’s rights.

The Chairman of the Society has valued the allocation of one of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to ensure the increasing of women’s participation in the labor market. To illustrate, this will happen through the issuance of many decisions, legislation and regulations that enhance their position in society to become an active partner in all economic, social, scientific, cultural and other fields. This has contributed also to their empowerment at the national and international levels, allowing women to play an important role in development.

Finally, the Society’s Chairman has concluded his statement stressing that it is necessary to intensify awareness programs on women’s rights in accordance with the regulations in order to enable them to know their rights which is guaranteed by the provisions of Islamic Sharia and the regulations in force in the Kingdom. In addition, it is important to raise the awareness of society about these rights in order to respect them
