A delegation of the National Society for Human Rights, headed by His Excellency the Chairman of the Society Dr. Mufleh Rabiean Qahtani, has visited HE Eng. Abdul Latif Abdul Malik Al-Sheikh Minister of Municipal, and Rural Affairs and President of the General Elections Commission so as to discuss some issues related to the third session of the municipal elections. The visiting delegation has listened to the efforts of the ministry and the General Elections Commission to facilitate the electoral process and the opportunity for all voters and candidates to participate in the electoral process smoothly and easily.

Besides, the visiting delegation stresses that it does not point out, during the last period, any great remarks that would impact on the fairness of the elections or its transparency. It adds that the Society will continue monitoring the electoral process until the voting and counting stage and the announcement of the results and it will issue a report at the time highlighting the pros and cons that have been observed. The visiting delegation has also stressed on the importance of offering equal opportunity, in all the phases of the electoral process, for males and females without any discrimination, the thing which was achieved by the ministry during the electoral process in the last period.

In addition, they have talked about the relationship between the municipal councils with the councils of the region as well as shedding light on the Society’s vision on the importance of coordination between these councils in order to ensure achieving the public interest and activating the role of the municipal councils.

This meeting was attended by Eng. Gadee Al-Qahtani from the ministry side and from the Society’s side, the Deputy Chairman of the Society, His Excellency Dr. Saleh Al-Khathlan , the Secretary General of the Society Mr. Khaled Al-Fakhri and the members of the Society Dr. Abdul Jalil Al-Seif , Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qaeed, Dr. Saleh Al-Shraideh and Dr. Ibrahim Suleiman.
