On Wednesday, 10/4/1437 AH corresponding to 20/1/2016 AD, the Canadian Ambassador to the Kingdom, Mr. Denees Horaak has visited the Society and was welcomed by the Chairman of the Society, Dr. Mufleh Rabiean Al-Qahtani and the Deputy Chairman, Dr. Saleeh Muhammad Al-Kathleen. At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Chairman of the Society has given them a brief explanation regarding the Society’s activities, its contribution in spreading the human rights culture and its mechanism. Besides, they have shed light on the types of issues received by the Society and how the Society helps the Complainants as well as the remarkable progress in the human rights field in the Kingdom and the efforts exerted for its enhancement. Besides, they have talked about the women entrance to the Shoura Council and allowing her to participate in the municipal elections. They have also talked about the double standards policy adopted by some Western countries when they start to give a great interest to some individual issues of people who have committed crimes and were sentenced to death because of what they had done in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Moreover, they have talked about Iran’s interference in the internal affairs of the countries of the region and its impact on human rights in these countries, especially with the Iranian government’s determination to destabilize the security of more than one Arab country. The Canadian ambassador has explained that the Canadian government has informed the Iranian counterpart of its point of view in this regard.

 The Chairman has asserted on the importance of the role of the Western Countries in showing the Iranian wrong policy in the region and how it affects the protection of human rights in the absence of security and stability for the peoples of the region. The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Society Mr. Khaled Abdurrahman Fakhri and the Secretary of the Chairman of the Society Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Mahmoud.
