On Thursday, 5/8/1437 AH, the Irish Ambassador to the Kingdom, Mr. Tony Cotter has visited the National Society for Human Right and was welcomed by Dr. Mufleh Rabiean Al Qahtani, the Chairman of the Society. At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Chairman of the Society has given him a brief explanation regarding the Society’s activities and its contribution in spreading the human rights culture as well as the human rights’ remarkable progress in the Kingdom and the efforts exerted for its enhancement.

Besides, they have talked about some of the regulations that have recently issued such as child protection system and protection from abuse system as well as talking about the remarkable progress of human rights in the Kingdom including the women entrance to the Shoura Council and allowing her to participate in the municipal elections. In addition, the Chairman of the Society has explained to the visiting delegation the death penalty and its mechanism that is applied in the Kingdom. On the other hand, the Ambassador has stressed on his country’s respect for the customs, traditions and laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and he has praised the progress witnessed by the Kingdom in many fields such as education and health. At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador has thanked the Presidency of the Society for the warm reception and expressed his delight for this meeting in which many matters relating to human rights have been clarified. The meeting was attended by Vice President of the Society, Dr.  Saleh Mohammed Al Khathlan, the Secretary General of the Society, Counselor Khalid Abdurrahman Al-Fakhri, and the Secretary of the Chairman of the Society Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Mahmoud.
