The National Society for Human Rights strongly condemns the barbaric Israeli aggression that has been going on for more than a month on the Gaza Strip, resulting in killing the innocent people, targeting the civilian facilities and destructing the infrastructure as well as the displacement of Palestinian citizens. The Society deplores the failure of the international community and its institutions, foremost of which is the United Nations, to take any decisive measures to stop the killing of thousands of innocent Palestinians, most of them children and women, in addition to targeting of hospitals and the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), where civilians sought safety from brutal Israeli attacks. Besides, the Society affirms that the continued Israeli aggression has combined the elements of war crime and the crime against humanity as defined in Articles VII and VIII of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

Furthermore, the National Society for Human Rights condemns the unlimited military, diplomatic and media support from a number of Western governments, which reflects the double standards of these governments and their selectivity in applying international human rights standards. Hence, this affects negatively and profoundly the credibility of these standards, especially since the world will celebrate in the coming weeks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was issued on the tenth of December 1948.

The National Society for Human Rights in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities and act urgently to stop the aggression, take the necessary measures for an immediate ceasefire, and enable humanitarian and medical aid access. They should also enable relief institutions to reach the needy, lift the siege on Gaza, hold Israel accountable for its heinous violations of international humanitarian law, in addition to work to stop Israeli settlement expansion projects in the Palestinian territories, by imposing sanctions on Israeli settlements, and criminalizing dealing and trafficking with them.

On the other hand, the National Society for Human Rights appreciates the firm position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Palestinian issue, its continuous movement to support the Palestinian people, and its diplomatic efforts to stop the aggression through the contacts of His Highness the Crown Prince with the leaders of countries. This in addition to the communications of His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the issuance of statements condemning Israeli violations, Riyadh’s hosting of an Arab-Islamic summit, the launch of the relief campaign for the Palestinian people in Gaza under the supervision of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. Moreover, the Kingdom continuously assures that peace in the region will not be achieved without a comprehensive and just solution that guarantee to the Palestinian people all their rights and the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
