The National Society for Human Rights has praised the decisions of the Council of Ministers taken on Monday, 28/12/1436, that support the rights of special needs, provide the right to work through fighting the unemployment, and protect the consumer rights. For illustration, The Cabinet has approved the inclusion of students with special needs with health and physical disabilities in the financial rewards decided for the private education students with special needs. The amount of these bonuses has been raised as follows:

– The primary stage (600 SR) per month, preparatory stage (750 SR) per month, and, and the secondary stage (900 SR) per month. This in case they are not in the interior sections of the students’ housing.

– The primary stage (180 SR) per month, preparatory stage (270 SR) per month, and the secondary stage (360 SR) per month. This in case they are in the interior sections of the students’ housing.

Besides, the Cabinet has approved the organization of Commission for Job Generation and Anti-Unemployment to be as a General Commission linked organizationally with the President of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. This commission will take action to generate jobs and combat unemployment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through coordination among all the governmental and private agencies related to the labor market. It will also promote the participation among them and will work on developing the sectors that generate jobs and take advantage of the competitive merit all over the Kingdom for this purpose. According to this regulation,  a Governing Council of the Commission will be established and its President will be appointed by the Prime Minister as well as the governor of the Commission (who is appointed by the Board of Directors) and representatives from a number of non-relevant governmental and non-governmental agencies and the private sector.

Moreover, the Cabinet has approved renaming the Agency of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Consumer Affairs to be the Agency of the Ministry for Consumer Protection, in addition to adding a number of tasks to the Agency. Its tasks will include: cooperating with local and international organizations for rehabilitating and training the administrative leadership in the field of consumer protection, determining the procedures and methods of filing complaints and access to rights, developing the electronic systems, receiving consumer complaints and studying and analyzing them, as well as cooperating with the relevant authorities to develop solutions for solving them.

It has also adopted creating a permanent committee for consumer protection at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to be named the Standing Committee for Consumer Protection and to be headed by the Minister of Commerce and Industry with the membership of a number of representatives of the relevant authorities.
