On Morning 17/8/1437 AH , at eleven O’clock,  a meeting has been held between the supervisor of the National Society for Human Rights’ branch of Mecca, Dr. Suleiman Awad al-Zaidi, and the Canadian Foreign Minister, Mr. Stephan Dion, and his delegation that includes Omar Ghabra, the Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, the Canadian Ambassador, Dennis Horak, and some of the minister’s advisers at the presence of the Saudi ambassador Nayef al-Sudairy. The meeting started with the speech of the Canadian Minister in which he thanked the Society for accepting his invitation to meet and has shown the interest of the Canadian Prime Minister and his government in human rights since the human diversity helps to progress. Hence, he clarified that they meet here today in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the Society’s work concerning human rights, and this is his message that he wishes to deliver to all colleagues in the National Society for Human rights. At the end of his speech, he asked to know more about the Society and its activities as well as the constraints that collide with its performance.

Moreover, Al- Zaidi has thanked him and wishes him a successful visit. He has also given him an explanation on the work of the National Society for Human Rights since its foundation in 2004, according to its constitution and he has explained the Saudi government’s cooperation with their work.

Regarding the human rights culture, the supervisor has explained the Society’s efforts to do so, including its success in developing courses in some universities which are taught as a teaching material for human rights. Besides, it works at the Ministry of Education to introduce the concepts of rights in the general education curriculum.
