On Monday 07l06l1435 AH, Mr. Nabil Othman, the Deputy UNHCR Regional Representative in the Gulf Cooperation Countries, accompanied by Dr. Yousef Al  Daradkeh , the Senior Protection Associate for UNHCR Regional Representative office in Riyadh, Mr. Amit Sen, the Senior Protection Associate for UNHCR Regional Representative office in Amman , and Ms. Noha Maroof, the Senior Protection Associate for UNHCR Regional Representative office in Riyadh have visited the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR). They were received by His Excellency the Chairman of the NSHR who has given them a brief explanation on the activities of the Society ,its contribution in spreading the human rights culture and its reports regarding the human rights situation in the Kingdom as well as  the remarkable progress witnessed by the Kingdom in the human rights’ field. In addition, they have talked about the tragic situation of the Syrian refugees and the need to support them as the Chairman has expressed his astonishment of the negative international community’s attitude towards the suffering of the Syrian people.  For more illustration, they are exposed to crimes against humanity such as murder, destruction , the genocide of women and children, and not seeking to find safe places that can accommodate the number of refugees where the regime’s forces will be prevented from attacking them .

Besides, they have discussed  the efforts exerted concerning the issue of Al Bedoons and the procedures that should be taken toward that category. The visiting delegation has also praised the Kingdom’s situation regarding the Albermaoyen’s issue which has  enabled them to correct their conditions.

Moreover, both parties have stressed on the importance of exchanging views on matters relating to human rights in general , and the refugees’ situations , in particular. They have also discussed creating a memorandum of understanding between the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the National Society for Human Rights that will be concerned with training courses, workshops , and giving the point of view regarding some human rights issues. At the end of the meeting, the visiting delegation has thanked the presidency of the Society for its warm reception. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General –designate, the Chancellor Khalid bin Abdul Rahman al-Fakhiri and the Secretary of the Chairman of the Society, Mr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mahmoud.
