The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has participated in “the International Conference on the challenges to security and human rights in the Arab Region” which has been held in Qatar under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. The National Human Rights Committee of Qatar has organized this conference, during the period from 5 to 6 November 2014 AD corresponding to 12to13 Muharam 1436 AH, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council. Besides, the NSHR has participated in the Conference with a delegation headed by Dr. Mufleh bin Rabiean, the Chairman of the NSHR, according to the invitation that has been sent to him and it was attended by a number of ministers, officials and representatives of countries and the regional and international organizations concerned with human rights. The conference has discussed the effective partnership between the security agencies and the human right agencies. In addition, on the sideline of the conference, the Chairman of the Society has said that there is no doubt that when the human rights and civil societies’ institutions protect the human rights and get away of the political opposition, many issues that align between the security and human rights will be achieved since the security is one of the most important human rights. He adds saying that the NSHR has succeeded in building partnerships with the security agencies and was enabled to visit all the prisons in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as having offices in the detective prisons. Hence, we always focus on the importance of the trust between the security and human rights agencies as it always come out with satisfactory results and help in enhancing the protection of human rights.

Moreover, Mr. Khalid Al Fakhri, the Secretary General of the Society, has said that the Chairman of the Society has met, on the sideline of the conference, many officials including HE Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashed Al Zeyabi. the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, HE Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Kuman, the Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council and HE Dr. Hadi Al Yami, the Chairman of the Arab Human Rights Committee and its  members, and His Excellency Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, the Chairman of the Emirates Human Rights Association, and the officials in the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar. Besides, it is worth mentioning that they have exchanged views concerning matters relating to human rights and discussed the way of cooperation in this field. They have also discussed signing a memorandum of understanding between the National Society for Human rights and the Arab Committee for Human Rights and activating the cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
