In 1446 AH, the Chairman of the National Society for Human Rights, Mr.Khalid bin Abdul Rahman Al-Fakhri, has inaugurated a series of awareness programs, starting with a workshop entitled: “Governance and its role in promoting integrity, transparency and combating corruption”, in partnership with the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority “Nazaha”, as part of the Society’s plan to spread the culture of human rights and raise awareness of it.

The Chairman of the Society has said in his speech that the National Society for Human Rights, since its inception twenty years ago, is keen to spread the culture of human rights and raise awareness about them because of its important impact on the protection of rights. He has added saying that “we open our series of programs this year with the subject of governance and the importance of its role in combating corruption as well as the statement of principles and standards of governance in the public and private sectors which contributes to disclosure, transparency, integrity, justice, accountability and sustainability. In addition, he has stressed that the positive effects of enhancing the concept of governance help in supporting the optimal application of its principles and practices in all entities in accordance with their tasks, competencies and nature of work, and in accordance with the general regulations and policies of the State.

Furthermore, the workshop has shed light on many topics, including the ways to protect integrity and its values, combat corruption, and the role of governance and the application of its effective principles and mechanisms in eliminating corruption.

The workshop has also highlighted the importance of embodying the principles of the rule of order, good management of public affairs and property, and enhancing transparency in the decision-making process, by encouraging the participation of individuals in it. It has also reviewed the most prominent governance tools to enhance integrity, transparency and anti-corruption, in addition to the contribution provided by governance so as to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The organisation of the National Society for Human Rights to this workshop coincides with the approval of the Council of Ministers on the guide to the governance of public entities, which contributes to raising awareness of the importance of governance in combating corruption and promoting integrity, and in line with the regulatory frameworks and legislation in force in the Kingdom.
